The unique pattern in the grain of olive makes it a beautiful and useful wood. The aroma of olivewood is very pleasing, and the durability makes grinding very easy.
Since these are all handmade there will be small difference from one to another, but the average specifications are:
Mortar: Height 4 inches, 3.75 inches wide. Inner diameter is 3 inches and 3 inches deep. The bowl is conical shaped that narrows at the bottom.
Pestle: 5.5 inches long, 1-inch diameter.
Availible with a Walnut finishing oil or with a food grade mineral oil.
As with any wood, regular maintenance is needed to make it last for years. Rub your olive wood product with olive, peanut or sunflower oil once a month. Dip a paper towel into the oil and rub over the surface of the wood sides.
